All right.

[That was a bit abrupt but she might not want to talk about it over the comms. Understandable.]

Where?

Sergei's would likely be best, considering I've already got the tea service set up here, though I suppose if you preferred someplace else then we could always move.

Sergei's is fine with me. I'll be there in a few minutes.

[Heading off as he speaks; it's impolite to keep a lady waiting.]

Wonderful! I'll see you then.

[When he arrives he won't find her in as precarious a position as she was when Kevas had found her, but she is bent halfway over the oven, having a very audible argument with said device.]

Now see here, your infernal settings are just far too much trouble, things were really much simpler back in England sometimes, I'll have you know!

[He'll stand and watch for a second, wondering if he should get involved before just biting the bullet and...getting involved.]

Would you like some help, Alice?

[She comes up from her argument, face flushed and looking indignant.]

Oh, why yes! That would be most helpful, here!

[And she's nudging a tea tray in his direction that consists of two silver teapots, and several little bowls containing sugar, honey, and milk.]

[Oh-

Well, he'd meant with the stove, but sure he'll take this. ...he's not quite sure what she wants him to do with it, but for now he'll just hold onto it until she indicates otherwise.]

Out there- [She points to the door] -there is a little table that is set up, do set that down over there, I'll be out in just a moment!

[As soon as she wrangles this newfangled contraption into submission.] It won't be but a moment!

[Hopefully she won't hurt herself.

He obediently takes the tea service to the table and sets it up, nudging the tray aside. He'll have a seat to wait for her, but if he hears something worrying he'll probably head back into the kitchen anyway.]

[A few crashes and bangs later, Alice emerges with a lovely array of teatime snacks, complete with scones and cream puffs.]

There! Now, that wasn't so bad...

[She'll set them down on the table, looking pleased.]

Shall we?

[Oh good, she didn't hurt herself.

He'll wait for her to sit down first before he takes a seat, though he doesn't make a move to serve himself just yet.]

...Alice, what do you think of birds?

[She does indeed sit, and rests her hands on the table to give him a very impassive stare before reaching to pick up the teapot.]

Well, that's quite an interesting question, and I'd rather be inclined to think it very out of the blue had I not seen what I saw last night.

I think most birds do signify something, don't you? I mean, besides all that poppycock about being free and flying and blather blather. What sort was the little red one, I wonder?

I'm pretty sure that was a cardinal. [They're one of the species of bird fairly easy to identify, after all.] I'm not sure what that means, though.

[Alice taps her finger delicately against her chin.]

A cardinal. Interesting - how did he get out here in the middle of the ocean, I wonder? It seems that we are rather in the dark about so many things here. I dislike being in the dark, don't you? I much prefer being able to see, as opposed to bumbling around aimlessly and running into walls and that sort of thing. Can you imagine stubbing your foot on an oversized chair? I can tell you that it very much hurts.
